You will hike through a tropical rainforest seeing native plants like Taro, ferns and a variety of wild gingers growing along the banks of a bubbling stream. There are Bamboo groves and magnificent towering trees. The wild guava trees and flowering plants give of a fragrant aroma, Along with the musky smells of a living forest, fill the air with a memorable scent as you hike up the trail to the waterfall. This is one of the best experience of real Hawaii, without leaving the city.
From Waikiki goto Ala Wai Blvd make a right onto Kalakaue Ave then a right onto S. King. Take S. King to Punahou. Make a left on Punahou. Stay on Punahou it will turn into Manoa Rd at Wilder Ave. Stay on Manoa Rd. It will take you into Moana Valley. Continue past the sign to Paradise Park. The road will turn into a dirt road. You can park off to the side of this dirt road.
The Manoa Falls trail is 1.6 miles long and is a moderate climb with modern trail improvements .Bring water and good hiking shoes. Insect repellent is recommend along with long pants.

The parking area at the foot of the trail is know as a high theft area. So please do not leave any valuables in your car or park in the neighborhood below and hike up to the trailhead. Not recommend for the frail.
